Letโ€™s be real: In recent years, it has gradually become harder and harder to consider church a safe place to be who you really are, especially in a post-Trump America. The Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg, on the other hand, welcomes people of all faiths and backgrounds, and genuinely wouldnโ€™t dare turn away members of the LGBTQ+ community, including drag queens and transgender individuals.

Still skeptical?

Jon Artertonโ€”who co-founded The Flirtations, an all-gay a cappella group that appeared in 1993โ€™s โ€œPhiladelphiaโ€โ€”and his husband James Mackโ€”a former New York fashionistaโ€”established St. Peteโ€™s One City Chorus in 2016; the two will showcase a rare performance together this weekend at the church. Backing them will be pianist Aaron Cassette and singer Todd Wellman.

Tickets to see Jon Arterton and James Back play Unitarian Universalist Church of St. Petersburg on Sunday, May 14 are still available and start at $20.
