Friday marks the second ride of 2023 and features Southern folk rocker Austin Miller in the duo setting. Georgia-based Miller (formerly of Orlando) will bring his easy-listening Americana tunes and tasteful harmonies—which can be heard on his latest album, 2016’s Engine—to the tracks between Ybor City and downtown Tampa. Let’s just see if Austin and Amanda’s guitars can drown out the sound of the streetcar’s whistle.
The band boards the trolley at Ybor City’s Centennial Park Station at 6 p.m., but we suggest getting there a bit early to secure your seat, since each streetcar can only hold about 50-60 people. Streetcar Live—presented by the same folks that organize Gasparilla Music Festival—takes place during Fourth Friday Tampa, a monthly arts and culture crawl that “provides an evening of special offerings, live music and programs by cultural destinations.”
The popular streetcar system also just surpassed its all-time annual ridership record this year, providing retro rides to over one million locals and tourists alike.
There’s no cover to see Austin Miller on Ybor City’s TECO Streetcar on Friday, Oct. 27.
