Styx fans seeing Coachman Park’s seven-month-old venue, The Sound, created their early 2024 concert memories early this month, but they weren’t alone. Classic Southern rock outfit 38 Special—originally based out of Jacksonville—ran through an energetic, hour-long opening set with frontman and founding member Don Barnes still jumping around like crazy. And to make matters better, founding Styx bassist Chuck Panozzo (who no longer tours full-time due to health issues) made a special appearance on “Lady,” only four songs in.
