The woman who claims she was slapped by DaBaby has now filed a lawsuit against the North Carolina rapper.
According to TMZ, Tyronesha Laws is suing for battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, after a video surfaced last week showing the rapper moving through the crowd at a recent Tampa concert, and slapping someone who appeared to be shining their cell phone too close to his face.
Laws' attorneys, Matt Morgan and Chelsea Cromer of Morgan and Morgan, told TMZ that the incident was "outrageous and shocking,” and that they hope to “send a message that this type of behavior is not tolerated in America."
The incident happened at Whiskey North—located at 11921 N. Dale Mabry Hwy.—on Saturday, March 7, hours after DaBaby headlined WildSplash in Clearwater.
DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, has since issued an apology, saying he felt he wasn’t being treated with respect by having the phone so close to his face, and that could not see who it was because of the phone’s light.
Dababy has been involved in similar confrontations in the past. Last May, he punched a guy at a Louis Vuitton store so hard his pants fell down. He also shot and killed a man in self defense in a Walmart parking lot in 2018, though all charges were dropped.
