There’s no better way to spend a sun-soaked summer than with some ska.

Reggae-rock band Slightly Stoopid kicks off its Step into the Sun tour this summer with four stops in the Sunshine state—including one in Clearwater

Founded in 1995 by frontmen Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, the accomplished California-based band’s unique blend of rock, reggae and hip hop left its mark on West Coast music and its devoted fan base, known as Stoopidheads.

And almost 30 years later, the seven-piece group have since headlined major events like Coachella, Lollapalooza and Austin City Limits while hosting its own Closer To the Sun music festival in Mexico.

The tour—which also stops in Jacksonville, West Palm Beach and Cocoa—begins almost a year after the band’s last single with Denm, “I’ll Be Gone,” dropped last fall.

According to a press release, a portion of the proceeds from the tour will benefit the Life Rolls on Foundation, which is committed to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities.

Tickets to see Slightly Stoopid play The BayCare Sound in Clearwater on Friday, June 27 are available and start at $45.50.

Fellow reggae-rockers Iration and Little Stranger open the show.
