Last Sunday night, Gunna elevated his performance to an extraordinary level at the Kia Center Orlando. The Atlanta rapper delivered a high-octane show, enhanced by a production design that seamlessly transitioned from Arctic landscapes to post-apocalyptic vistas, and even featured an abominable snowman, weaving a visually arresting narrative.
The spectacle commenced with the enormous white creature taking the stage, accompanied by theatrical sound effects, dynamic lighting, and small bubbles mimicking a blizzard. The creature prowled the stage while a video of a polar scene was projected onto a white sheet. Abruptly, Gunna’s voice resounded, introducing his new single, “Bittersweet,” as he navigated through the audience. He sang his way to the stage, where the creature continued its menacing patrol.
For “Whatsapp,” Gunna replaced the snowman, unveiling a striking white and brown polar-themed outfit, complete with fur boots to match his oversized, fur, hooded hat. Performing solo, he delivered his verses with finesse, and as the concert progressed, the audience enthusiastically chanted along to newer songs like “Prada Dem” and “Back at It,” invigorating Gunna’s performance.
The attendees soon realized they were integral to the production when the auditorium was engulfed by the sounds of thunder and flashes of lightning. An oceanic tempest was projected, leading to an underwater excavation of a mysterious artifact. As the artifact emerged from the depths, the sheet dropped, revealing a colossal statue of Gunna’s head on stage.
Gunna reappeared in mirror-ball-style pants and a gray tank top, positioning himself atop the monumental prop to continue with “Back at It.” A video screen behind the statue head displayed a constantly evolving backdrop, currently depicting flowing water. He performed “Bottom” atop the head before descending by the song’s conclusion, continuing his relentless pace through his repertoire and launching into “Ca$h $hit,” “idk nomore,” amongst several other tracks. His vocal delivery remained robust, his singing and rapping equally clear and powerful. Moreover, Gunna’s stamina was remarkable, exhibiting no signs of fatigue as he energetically delivered song after song, with minimal backing track and rapping every single word.
Utilizing the massive prop head as a seat, Gunna performed collaborations like Nav and Travis Scott’s “Yosemite.” Gunna’s final outfit change saw him in sleek black jeans, a black tank, and a black leather jacket adorned with feathers. He concluded his extensive, two-hour, 30-song set with crowd favorites like his collaboration with Young Thug, “Ski,” and the immensely popular “Pushin P.”
Opening the show, Mobile, Alabama rapper Flo Milli delivered an electrifying 30-minute set. Dressed in a black bodysuit and furry boots, complementing Gunna’s frosty theme, her long, sleek hair cascaded past her hips as she commanded the stage with sensual dance moves and a dynamic performance. Flo Milli performed tracks from her last three projects, including Like That B*tch from her 2020 mixtape Ho, Why Is You Here? and “Conceited.” She concluded her set triumphantly with the fan favorite “Never Lose Me”, her most recent TikTok viral record.
