This year has already seen the deaths of Motörhead's Eddie Clarke, R&B singer Denise LaSalle, Babymetal guitarist Mikio Fujioka and French singer France Gall amongst others, but this one is going to linger for anyone who grew up in the 90s.
According to a statement from her PR agency, Cranberries singer Dolores O'Riordan has died. She was just 46 years old (via TheJournal.ie).
A cause of death is still unknown, but O'Riordan is survived by three children and legion of fans who were entranced by the Irish band's ability to add a Celtic tilt to the jangly guitar-pop it made popular on songs like "Linger" and "Zombie."
“Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time," the statement said.
