The lighting is soft and even, highlighting the texture of the leather and their relaxed, contemplative posture.

Despite a body of work that includes nearly two dozen studio albums going back to the late-’70s, Steve Forbert is still best known for a 1979 song, “Romeo’s Tune,” that hit No. 11 in America.

Pulled from the Mississippi native’s debut, Alive On Arrival, the love song almost didn’t make the tracklist until a final verse was added. It was a commercial success for a songwriter that some dubbed a “new Dylan,” and one visitors will hear when the 71-year-old plays this intimate house show.

Tickets to see Steve Forbert play the Jack Kerouac House in St. Petersburg on Saturday, May 2 are sold-out.

If you don’t like shows in tiny spaces, he Forbert is in the ‘Burg’s best listening room the next day.

Tickets to see Steve Forbert play Bayboro Brewing Co. in St. Petersburg on Sunday, May 3 are still available for $36.22.
