A new Bay area contest modeled after all those music-related TV reality shows, So You Think You Can DJ is the latest local search for the hottest talent in town — those who know just what to spin to get bodies on the floor. The winner gets crowned as Tampa's Best DJ along with a guest DJ residency at The Kennedy, a fatty TBA cash prize, $100 in Beatport music downloads, $50 in Jamvana music downloads, and the biggie: an all-expense paid trip and the chance to compete in the Red Bull National Thre3Style DJ Competition in Denver this October.
Basically, So You Think You Can DJ is an open competition designed to promote, expose and spotlight Tampa's best DJ talent, from up-and-coming novices to veteran professionals. Local folks get the opportunity to select their favorites during an open voting from July 26 through July 30, with the top 16 advancing to the competition.
