Hooch and Hive is easily one of the top three best rooms for sound in Tampa Bay, so it should perform well this weekend when a new collective with familiar faces—Free Your Rhyme, LLC, driven by singer-songwriter Shelby Sol and Tampa rapper Jinx—stages its first “Sol Exhibit” concert where featured performers will not only play, but share the stories behind the music all backed by one hell of a house band, Sol Idarity (pictured), anchored in part by Tampa bass genius Rugawd.

A member of that Sol Idarity band Cord McLean steps out to centerstage for this bill along with, singer and songwriter J’Nelle and Sol herself (who’s also playing with Acme Jazz Garage on Sunday). Host Emjay Meraki handles the vibes for this one which includes local vendors, too.
The Sol Exhibit: Cord w/J'Nelle/Shelby Sol. Saturday, Oct. 23, 6:30 p.m. $15. Hooch and HIve. 1001 W Cass St., Tampa. eventbrite.com
