Just because you haven’t heard from Navin Ave. in a bit doesn’t mean the Tampa band with a literary streak has gone away.
“Navin Ave. never broke up, but we stopped playing entirely because of the pandemic,” front-person Shae Krispinsky told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. Sure the band played up its “Southern Gothic 70s-arena indie rock with a pop Americana twist” side when it played as hair-rockers Poison for the Fangsgiving charity show, but this no-cover gig is the group’s first proper Tampa set since February of 2020. Jeff Brawer and Derek Forrester are still playing, but drummer Rodney Smith moved away and has been replaced by Adam Revak.
“We finally finished our first album (the pandemic REALLY set us back), which we’re really proud of. I’ve got two more albums planned for the band, so, yes, hopefully we’ll be around for a while,” Krispinsky added.
