Only absolute beginners should be surprised that there are changes associated with a show that involves Peter Murphy.

It comes as no surprise that 73-year-old rock everyman Adrian Belew—famous for his work with King Crimson, Talking Heads, and Frank Zappa—actually toured and recorded with post-Thin White Duke-era David Bowie on Stage and Lodger. He’ll be in town to perform his own material this summer, but Belew had plans to appear with other Bowie alum—and fans like Bauhaus’ Peter Murphy—on the semi-annual Celebrating David Bowie tour, going ever since the chameleon’s 2016 death.

The tour previously featured the likes of Todd Rundgren, and members of Bowie’s Reality tour backing band—and it’s St. Pete stop has been rescheduled from its original April 8, 2023 date to Oct. 31, 2023.

“Peter Murphy has undergone an unexpected medical procedure that prohibits his ability to travel as planned,” a statement from the tour says. “He is recovering well, will fully recover, and be ready to tour in the US with the group this fall.”

At least you won’t get called out for dressing up.

Tickets to see the rescheduled Celebrating David Bowie featuring Peter Murphy, Adrian Belew, Scrote, Royston Langdon, Eric Schermerhorn, Ron Dziubla and more at Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg are still available and start at $43.
