Though the majority of music nowadays is obtained and listened to digitally, it seems that there has been a resurgence in popularity of vinyl records and turntables — enthusiasts waxing nostalgic over this throwback form of listening to music.
And though the German Sennheiser company is currently a leader in the manufacturing of audio and electronics biz (particularly microphones and headphones), they've recognized this "vinyl fever" trend and are going back to their roots by giving this classic turntable style from the '80s a 'green' makeover.
Sennheiser teamed up with designer Matthew Lim to create an eco-friendly, recycled and biodegradable new turntable model made from cork, bioplastic, fiberboard, and felt, packaged in a box made from recycled wood. The headphones that come with it are also made from sustainable and recyclable materials. (See bottom photo.)
