✔️ The Black Angels w/Black Lips Smart, Atlanta-based punk hooligans The Black Lips will open this show before Texas’ Black Angels blow in with a psychedelic take on cacophonous, hypnotizing shoegaze. Each of these bands’ 2017 albums (the Angels’ Death Song and the Lips’ Satan’s Graffiti or God’s Art?) were some of last year’s best rock LPs, so this one at State Theatre is a hell of a two-for-one. (State Theatre, St. Petersburg) INFO

Rosetta w/Gullwing/Oceans Rise/Aurorae Fans of Neurosis, Isis, and Cult of Luna have latched on to the fierce independent spirt of Rosetta. The Philadelphia post-rock band (not to be confused with a Michigan-based outfit with the same name) is in Ybor City supporting its last album, last year’s Utopioid, on which frontman Michael Armine & Co. continue to ignore industry trends en route to crafting a harmonious, heavy brand of instrumental rock that is every bit as integral as it was when the band gave us The Galilean Satellites in 2005. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

Lil Wop w/Chxpo Lil Wop is always smiling, but we’d probably be doing the same if our favorite rapper (in this case, Wop admires Gucci Mane) signed us to a deal. The Wopster is huge on stage presence and it’ll be a wonder to see his biggest fans completely lose it during this gig at the Skatepark snack bar. ✔️ Nail Club w/Verhalten/i_like_dog_face/Karl Jaims Nail Club — a Pensacola-based minimalist synth project — tops this bill, but Verhalten (New Mexico) has traveled the furthest to be at The Hub for this Hump Day gig where experimental sounds and textures will be the order of the evening.
