✔️ Cody Jinks w/Sunny Sweeney For its Valentine’s Day present to Tampa Bay, Jannus Live is welcoming Haltom City, Texas country songwriter Cody Jinks to the courtyard so that he can support his Rounder Records debut, Lifers, which largely revolves around the push and pull of life on the road and life at home with loved ones. We’re excited, however, to reconnect with Sunny Sweeney after the 42-year-old Texan headlined Skipper’s Smokehouse in September in support of her new album of uncharacteristically lovey-dovey songs (Trophy). (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) INFO
✔️ Ghost-Note w/Electric Kif Drummers of Snarky Puppy (Robert “Sput” Searight and Nate Werth) teamed up with a holy host of collaborators to release a 2015 LP (Fortified) under the Ghost-Note moniker, and on Thursday the University of North Texas alums will bring their special blend of sounds (West African, Afro-Cuban, and Brazilian rhythmic sounds get married to Ghost-Note’s influences of James Brown, J Dilla and Herbie Hancock) to the Dunedin Brewery for a free show in support of the band’s 2018 album, Swagism, which is as funky as its title suggests. Miami fusion outfit Electric Kif opens the show. (Dunedin Brewery, Dunedin) INFO
Ortrotasce w/Spoon Dogs/Fever Beam If you love local music, then this is the Valentine’s Day show for you. Cowpunk-abilly rock-and-roll power trio Fever Beam holds it down for St. Petersburg while The Spoon Dogs bounce over here from Orlando to share their take on garage rock before electro duo Ortrotasce caps off the night. Don’t forget that this 21 & up show is free and features holiday cocktails mixed up by The Bends bartenders. (The Bends, St. Petersburg) INFO
Caspa w/Salty/Ollie Mumbles/Soundleake/Thi3f B2B Flubz EDM fans have a couple of options on Valentine’s Day (bachata remixer DJ Soltrix is at The Ritz Ybor), but all of the bassheads are driving out to Largo for this one from U.K. bass pioneer and dubstep OG Caspa. The Rusko collaborator headlines the party at Los Dos Plebes, and he’ll be supported by Atlanta producer Salty plus locals like Soundleake and Thi3f, who’ll be doing a back-to-back with Flubz. (Los Dos Plebes, Largo) INFO
J’Nelle God bless all the non-hockey-loving significant others that are headed to Amalie Arena to see the Lightning take on the Dallas Stars. At least J’Nelle will be there to make sure you have something to dance to. The Bay area singer can do everything from soul to soca, and she’s the featured artist taking the plaza stage before Thursday’s game. The show is free, even if you don’t have a ticket, so feel free to hop on the Ybor City-downtown Tampa trolley if you’re pinching pennies for your future. (Ford Plaza at Amalie Arena, Tampa) INFO
I’m Sioux Into You w/DJ Cub/DJ Catmat Valentine’s Day is a crock of shit Hallmark holiday to some of us, but none of us can argue with the appeal of drinking half-priced bottles of wine at The Bricks, where DJs Cub and Cat Mat will be spinning dark and new wave classics for the boo-ed up and perpetually single. Apologies in advance for the drunken, judgmental side eye we’ll be directing towards your date. Free to attend. (The Bricks, Ybor City) INFO
Soul Sessions w/Trumaine Lamar It can be very romantic down in the basement of downtown St. Petersburg’s Iberian Rooster, and while tables are all sold out for this edition of Left Lane Entertainment’s Soul Sessions, the sensual vocals from the Bay area’s very own Trumaine Lamar are a good enough reason to work a visit to this late-night party into your plans. (SubCentral at Iberian Rooster, St. Petersburg) INFO
