Aidan Bissett, a young man with dark, curly hair, is captured in a close-up shot while performing on a dimly lit stage. He's wearing a tan jacket over a white shirt and is playing an electric guitar slung across his body. A microphone stands in front of him, and a warm, golden spotlight illuminates him from the side. He appears to be singing with his eyes closed and his head tilted slightly back.

After a few years of putting out EPs on Capitol Records, indie-pop singer-songwriter Aidan Bissett finally dropped his full-length debut album over the summer.

Shut Up and Love Me dances around the harsh moral of how making a sacrifice, regardless of size, doesn’t always get you the thanks and reverence you feel you deserve. At the same time, the punchy, upbeat vibes are the epitome of a Saturday night out with your friends, while in your early twenties.

The 23-year-old first appeared on the historic St. Pete stage last year while opening for what turned out to be Coin’s final tour, and mentioned how surreal it was to be standing up there after having seen many of his heroes do so in the same spot (he told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay afterward that Dominic Fike’s 2022 set was the most memorable.)

Supporting the Jesuit High graduate for this roots return will be Zach Hood—an Alabama singer-songwriter in a similar genre as Bissett—and Lulu Simon, whose lyrics seem so straightforward, but still cut deep anyway, similarly to her Rock and Roll Hall of Fame father, Paul.

Tickets to see Aidan Bissett play St. Pete’s Jannus Live on Wednesday, Sept. 24 are still available and start at $30.37.
