A brightly illuminated, aerial twilight photograph of the Hindu Temple of Florida in Tampa. The ornate temple features a massive, multi-tiered front tower, known as a gopuram, which is intricately detailed with traditional carvings. The building is lit with warm architectural lighting that makes it glow against the darkening landscape. A grand, wide staircase leads up to the main entrance. At the ground level, white paved walkways geometric patterns across a manicured green lawn. In the background, the horizon is ablaze with a vibrant orange and yellow sunset that fades into a dark blue evening sky.

Sitting in front a tabla and harmonium in action is transfixing, and world music fans have a chance to get hypnotized this weekend.

The opportunity is all thanks to The Shruti Foundation, which welcomes percussionist Gourisankar to the stunning Tampa Hindu Temple for two sets: one with vocalist Brajeswar Mukherjee and Anirban Chakrabarty on harmonium, then a solo performance alongside vocalist Arnab Chatterjee from India, with Bay area scene staple Shankh Lahiri on tabla.

And yes, there will be Indian food.

Tickets for Vocal Mela: Festival of Indian Classical Singing at Tampa Hindu Temple on Saturday, May 16 are still available for $30.
