A new series borne from the mind of Perception takes flight this weekend.

For the first installment of Vibe Vault, the Tampa rapper has tapped country-leaning songwriter Leanne McGroary to join Gen Z-soul songwriter April Showers and rapper-engineer The Black Ace on a bill that Perception hopes gives a platform to up-and-coming homegrown talent.

“I could perform almost every night,” he told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay about his come up years ago. With venues being a scarcity, there’s less opportunity for that, so he plans to slow-grow the Vault over the next year to give local artists the same shot.

Tickets for the Vibe Vault Vol. 1 at Hooch and Hive in Tampa on Friday, Aug. 23 are still available and start at $10.
