In the more than 10 years I’ve had a byline at Creative Loafing Tampa Bay, only one band has garnered more traction than Bangarang when it comes to Best of the Bay reader polls.

It’s no surprise either. For the last decade the hybrid rock group has been not just a surefire party-starter, but one of the biggest scene champs, ready to be at other artists’ shows and, more recently, book them under the Healthy Phoenix promotions group from Bangarang frontman Senyo Fugar.

For the Bangarang 10-year anniversary celebration in Ybor City on Saturday, Sept. 24, the boys have asked their favorite bands to open and invited a couple luminaries of the local songwriter and rap scene—Shevonne and Pusha Preme, respectively—to play each others songs, too.
