In recent years, things in the Spirit of the Beehive camp have changed. A new three-piece lineup featuring just Zack Schwartz, Rivka Ravede, and Corey Wichlin released its lockdown masterpiece, Entertainment, Death, and finally received the rave reviews that it deserves from numerous major music outlets. The recording process was a lot less grueling for them, too.
The band had seven days of studio time to get its previous album, Hypnic Jerks done, and though they were all together for that one, Entertainment, Death was made thanks to the magic of sending each other emails.
Almost a year after release, Spirit of the Beehive is back together in person, and it’s playing Crowbar in Ybor City on Tuesday, March 8. Supporting the band will be Philly-based, multi-genre duo Body Meat and recently reunited local indie-rock favorite The Grapes.
