Some bands go on farewell tours. The Who, however, will not. Today, the iconic classic rock outfit announced its new "Moving On!" tour, which will support the band's first album of new songs in 13 years.
The jaunt finds the band backed by symphony orchestras and features just two Florida stops, including a September 22 date at Tampa's Amalie Arena (Ft. Lauderdale's BB&T Center will host one on September 20).
The Who’s fan club presale starts Wednesday, January 16 at 10 a.m. EST and ends 24 hours later. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Friday, January 18 at 10 a.m. They'll cost fans $63-$304. Every pair of tickets purchased online includes a redeemable code for a CD copy of The Who’s forthcoming album when it’s released. The CD offer is available to U.S. and Canada customers only and not valid for tickets purchased via resale. In addition, $1 from each ticket sold for will benefit Teen Cancer America.
"Roger [Daltrey] christened this tour 'Moving On!,'" Pete Townshed said in a release. "I love it. It is what both of us want to do. Move on, with new music, classic Who music, all performed in new and exciting ways. Taking risks, nothing to lose."
On stage, Townshed and Daltrey will be joined by familiar faces including guitarist-backup singer Simon Townshend, keyboardist Loren Gold, bassist Jon Button and drummer Zak Starkey.
"Just because it's The Who with an orchestra, in no way will it compromise the way Pete and I deliver our music," Daltrey added. "This will be full throttle Who with horns and bells on.”
