Creative Loafing’s Record Fair & Music Issue Release Party 2016 This paper you’re holding in your grubby hands right now? It’s the 2016 edition of the Music Issue, and we’re throwing our third annual vinyl pop-up party in celebration. We’re moving from our own CL Space to another sweet Ybor spot, Lot 1901, and there, you’ll find folks from Planet Retro Records, Daddy Kool, Mojo Books & Records and Microgroove hawking wax and various other music-related goodies. Admission is free. (Lot 1901, Ybor City)—Leilani Polk

Zanesville with The Skarz, Pretty Voices, Shithouse Slim & the Upperdeckers “Zanesville” is pretty much synonymous with “rowdy Emerald show,” but this weekend sees the trio bringing its inimitable mix of cowpunk, spiky post-blues and volatile energy down the street to see what’s breakable at Fubar. The Skarz features some familiar scene faces and tried-and-true rock riffs, you know all about Pretty Voices and their angular CBGB-reminiscent fun, and Shithouse Slim & The Upperdeckers — well, they’re Shithouse Slim & The Upperdeckers. (Fubar, St. Petersburg) —Scott Harrell

STRT TRBL Pop-up Shop & Concert STRT TRBL (pronounced “Straight Terrible”) is a lifestyle clothing brand and record label based in Tampa and Chicago. This party/pop-up shop features STRT TRBL gear, goods and performances by a few of its artists — youthful “happy rap” maker Sam Stan and Tampa-based force Freeman. Rob Gats and QueenofEx also perform; check out a profile on the latter in this week’s Music Issue here. (New World Brewery, Ybor City)—LP

Amphibian Lark Simeon Coxe is considered a virtual pioneer of electronic music and experimental rock by way of his work with Silver Apples, an influential group that came up in the late ‘60s. His recent project with multi-instrumental lady love Lydia Winn LeVert is Amphibian Lark, which sounds pretty much nothing like what he did with Silver Apples and not in a good way. (Think midi key tones and questionable production qualities.) ‘Course, the opportunity to see Coxe in a live setting is likely one fans of his other band won’t want to miss out on… (The Venture Compound, St. Petersburg)—LP

The Underhill Family Orchestra with The Sh-Booms, Little Sheba and The Shamans It’s a bill of timeless, rowdy rock ‘n’ roll at Ybor’s home of the voluminous and eclectic. Mobile’s Underhill Family Orchestra brings the soulful stomp to a show that’s already got more than its fair share of swinging swagger, thanks to Orlando locals and frequent I-4 traversers The Sh-Booms and Little Sheba and The Shamans. (Crowbar, Ybor City) —SH

Polyenso with Brother Cephus Polyenso is one of the most promising up-and-coming acts to come out of Tampa Bay, its avant-rock soundscapes treated with strong hooks and a diverse range of vocal styles makes for a unique experience. For more on Polyenso, see our profile in this week’s Music Issue here. Brother Cephus is another act to watch if you’re local; the group plies an electrifying mix of extreme fuzz and lo-fi guitar riffs, with polished and distinct song structures backed by alternating raspy and clean vocals. (Jannus Live, St. Petersburg) —Brian Roesler
