Parquet Courts w/Mary Lattimore Parquet Courts are something like the gold standard of New York indie rock (some even call them “The Strokes” of today), and while frontman Andrew Savage & co. certainly have a special brand, they still aren’t as unique as their opener, harpist Mary Lattimore. Her 47-string Lyon and Healy hard is the stuff of legend (a 2016 experimental album, At the Dam, is just as good), and we’re wondering if she’ll be touring in that vintage Volvo Station Wagon, which was the only car that could lug the behemoth around. Read our Q&A with Savage here. (Crowbar, Ybor City) INFO

True Stories Every month True Stories holds a slightly drinky, themed storytelling night in DTSP. January has a musical theme and the featured storyteller, local writer and all-around fun guy, Cole Bellamy, will speak. How is a writer musical? Nope, he doesn't write songs (that we know of) but he is directly related to the Bellamy Brothers (think "Let Your Love Flow" and my favorite, "Redneck Girl"). So this mild-mannered college professor with sexy nerd glasses, a penchant for cardigans and lots of literary thoughts tell his story. If he inspires you, you can get onstage and tell your story. You don't need to be related to Miranda Lambert or anything; simply put your name in the story bucket (they call it the fuckit bucket), and if you’re called you get five minutes to tell your real-life story. No props. No notes. At the end, you (and everyone else in the crowd) picks the best story (Iberian Rooster, St. Petersburg) INFO — Cathy Salustri
