This morning, John Mayer had to be rushed to a New Orleans hospital for an emergency appendectomy (via People).
As a result, Dead & Co. for whom our loquacious, doe-eyed, mini-doughnut eating guitar-slinger is playing guitar, had to postpone its show set for Smoothie King Center.
UPDATE (Dec. 8) Dead & Company has rescheduled its postponed show for February 27. All tickets will still be honored, but anyone who wanted a refund can get theirs via point of purchase. More info via Amway Center.
UPDATE (Dec. 6): The December 8 Sunrise, Florida show as well as the December 7 Orlando date at Amway center, has been postponed. All tickets will be honored at the still-to-be-announced make up dates. Ticket holders that would like a refund can get one at point of purchase. The band's statement is below.
Here's what the band had to say:
“Early this morning, John Mayer was admitted to the hospital for [an] emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec. 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed. All tickets for the Dec. 5 show will be honored for the rescheduled date. Information on the rescheduled date will be announced as soon as possible. Should ticketholders choose to seek a refund, they will be available at point of purchase.”
The band is set to bring its fall tour to Orlando's Amway Center on Thursday, December 7, and we've reached out to arena officials to see if they've heard from the tour. As of now, the Orlando show is still on.
Mayer's last Tweets before surgery included an apology to a HuffPo writer after the singer attempted to correct what he thought was an AP Style error in a headline.
Pray for John because, prayers. Read our review of Mayer's recent headlining set at Tampa's Amalie Arena here.
