A teenage girl donned in a poncho, checkerboard bikini top and frayed shorts stood at the rear of a crowd, fervently bopping her head to the sounds of Every Time I Die performing live. She also held an iPod in her hand, with one ear-bud in her ear, perhaps just in case the music going on onstage wasnt quite enough. Small name bands who made it on the tour attempted to lure in new fans in from other merch tents to broaden their fan base.
Local bands milled outside the venue, eagerly pushing their music onto anyone who would stop, slap on some headphones and listen.
Thats what Vans Warped Tour Twenty Ten was all about: Music, music and more music.
Warped Tour turned 16 years old this year and churned out a lineup of 75 bands spread over seven stages and ranging from soft-edged alt rock to ska to punk metal.
Last years Warped was greeted with scorching hot Florida weather. This year, a tropical storm decided to make its way through town. Concertgoers huddled under tents, umbrellas and anything else they could find to avoid the drenching downpours.
