Canadian singer/songwriter Patrick Watson began his musical career early in life. As a boy he played in church choirs and studied jazz and classical piano performance, composition, and arrangement. While in high school in the late 1990s he sang and played keyboards with a Ska band called Gangster Politics. In 2001 he left the band and released his solo debut album. He creates vibrantly textured music with his "romantic" voice that can easily be heard above the guitars and pianos so common to his music.
