Football is finally here and that means the fall season is soon to follow, except I forgot that our summer goes well into October. But, that doesn't change the fact that the cooler months usually usher in some great new tunes. Football and new music, yes please! Let's checkout a few highlights from this week's Tune-Up.

LISTEN ON SPOTIFY: WEEKLY TUNE-UP XXXVI

Bon Iver is back! Justin Vernon and crew just announced a new album titled  22, A Million. Along with that announcement they also introduced two new songs featured on their new album. I chose "22 (Over Soon) [Bob Moose extended cab version]," and yes, that's the correct title. Bon Iver have never kept it simple, and things seem to stay familiar here. "22 (Over Soon)" is a minimal track that almost sounds unfinished. See, that's what Bon Iver do best, create beauty the unconventional way. It's not the most digestible song, but it carries charm and sincerity. Hold that thought! There are two appearances this week from the indie-folk crew, the second coming in the way of a guest feature on Francis and the Lights newest tune called "Friends." Believe it or not, a non-rapping Kanye West is even involved. "Friends" is an excellent track. Nice collabo, fellas.

The ladies from Warpaint just released their lead single called "New Song," off their upcoming LP Heads Up. I'm not sure if we're getting a sample of more dance-oriented music with "New Song," or maybe they're just being a little experimental. Either way, it's a driving song that makes for an enticing preview of what could be. You can purchase Heads Up on September 23rd.

I've been a fan of R+B musician PARTYNEXTDOOR since his arrival.  PND partnered with Drake's OVO record label three years ago, and he's slowly moved into the spotlight with his nocturnal sexed-up R+B. With a plethora of guest features on various hip-hop albums, PND seems to be settling into a nice groove. Most don't realize he writes and produces for other artists, including for his protege, Drake. PARTYNEXTDOOR 3 (P3) dropped last week and shows listeners a more melancholic side to his usual bedroom fantasies. Party is airing some of his lost love and failed relationships, which allows him to show his diversity as an artist. "Don't Run" is an electronic influenced tune that urges PND's girl to hang around Toronto for a little while longer.
