There’s still a month before Brooksville’s Florida Sand Music Ranch hosts one of Central Florida’s biggest music festivals, but Whippersnap vibes arrives in St. Petersburg for this warm up of sorts.

It’s no surprise to see Joe Marcinek at the heart of the action either. The guitarist’s band is on the lineup in February, but for this gig he’s joined by String Cheese Incident drummer-percussionist Jason Hann along with Delvon Lamarr, the virtuosic organist and multi-instrumentalist who’s channeled the spirit of The Meters and Booker T. into his very own blend of jazz and soul.

Mini M and Heavy Pets drummer Jamie Newitt’s tiny.blips project opens.

Tickets for the Road to Whippersnap pre-party happening at Bayboro Brewing Co. in St. Petersburg on Saturday, Jan. 10 are still available for $25-$30.
