Jazz-rock saxophonist Mindi Abair—a St. Petersburg native gone big—is in town with a literal big leaguer (baseball legend and Latin jazz guitarist Bernie Williams) in tow.
Abair has toured with Aerosmith, Adam Sandler, Backstreet Boys, and was the featured saxophonist on a couple of seasons of “American Idol.” She’s also released nine solo albums, two of which garnered Grammy-nominations. Though Abair does a lot of saxxy covers of pop songs (think Eagle Eye Cherry’s “Save Tonight”), I’m hoping to one day hear her version of Gerry Raffery’s “Baker Street” which feature what’s commonly known as the greatest sax solo of all time?
Capitol Theatre still has strict COVID-19 regulations so don’t throw away those masks, people.
