Whether you sat out or got soaked at Young The Giantโs Gasparilla Music Festival rain set two years ago, hereโs your chance for redemption.
This morning, the California alt-rock outfit announced that a trio of Florida shows would be added to its upcoming summer tour, with the first one taking place in Tampa. The 42-date run coincides with the release of the bandโs upcoming sixth album Victory Garden, which shares a title with the tour. While the albumโs hopeful first single โDifferent Kind of Loveโ and its rainy music video have made waves since dropping last month, itโs easier to lyrically connect with last weekโs single โBitter Fruit,โ which sees frontman Sameer Gadhia and friends long for the days when they could really live hard and enjoy life again.
Joining the band in Tampa will be Long Beach indie-rock band Cold War Kids, which will celebrate the 20th anniversary of their debut album Robbers & Cowards, and up-and-coming indie-pop trio Almost Monday. And if this early-in-the-week University of South Florida gig doesnโt match up with your schedule, a Ft. Lauderdale gig two days later is still an option, as is an outdoor stop three hours away at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre that Friday.
