A who's who of '90s and early-2000s pop-punk is coming to Tampa on Friday

All-American Rejects, New Found Glory/The Starting Line and The Get Up Kids are at the old Gary amp.

Don’t hate us, but we didn’t know that The Get Up Kids—a Kansas City-based emo band that helped shape the genre—were still active.

In 2019, some four years after the band’s last time in Tampa, and the same year that saw the departure of founding member James Dewees, the Kids dropped Problems, an album described by critics as a return to the band’s roots.

Hopefully frontman Matt Pryor leans on the Something to Write Home About and Four Minute Mile bangers that put The Get Up Kids on the map during the set opening for The All-American Rejects and New Found Glory.

Tickets to The All-American Rejects "Wet Hot Summer" tour at MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in Tampa on Friday, Aug. 11 are still available and start at $35. Subscribe to Creative Loafing newsletters.
