It’s no stranger to the area.

Alternative rock band Joywave is no stranger to Tampa Bay—it opened for Bleachers’ State Theater show in 2015, hit the 97x BBQ in 2017, and most recently performed at the MidFlorida Credit Amphitheatre in 2018 alongside 30 Seconds to Mars and Misterwives. The Rochester-based band—which incorporates a pop hook ever so often—is heading back to Tampa as a headliner. Joywave hasn’t released an LP since 2017, but a new one, Possession, was released on Friday, and superfans are excited to hear its new single “Half Your Age” live at this first show of the band’s Florida swing.

And the show is still on amid coronavirus concerns that've canceled dozens of concerts in Tampa Bay.

"As of right now, I haven’t been informed of any cancellations," Madi Florence, a College Press Representative at Universal Music Group, told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay. "But if something changes, I’ll be sure to let you know."
