Prince always knew Lakeland was cool, his Purple Rain tour hit the town’s Civic Center in ‘85, and in the last couple years people are finally catching up. The Polk County city has a cool downtown, a food hall and music venue Union Hall that opened in 2019. Athens band New Madrid closes out its mini-tour at the event space this weekend before heading up to Pittsburg to open for Cold War Kids. Orlando’s Timothy Eerie opens with psychedelic-pop.
