Attention Internet folks: help decide This or That's 2010 Song of the Year

Last year, the music industry brought in so many amazing artists, including original YouTube sensation Justin Bieber and the ever enchanting Lady Gaga became bigger than ever. (Even though I can argue against some of them, the fact is, they're climbing the ranks higher than anyone ever thought possible)

Last year, we saw Eminem rise from the ashes and re-invent his music, and we saw Jay-Z and Lil' Wayne keep on trucking and putting the best music there is out there (in my humble opinion).

So, Internet folks, want to get behind your artist and help them elbow their way to the top of the ? Here's some info on the tournament.

The tournament interface was a project in and of itself. It's a new breed, and a lot of effort has been put into the design and functionality of it for the launch date. There's 64 songs in this tournament (with 32 matchups) that face off against each other over six rounds -- each round lasting three days. (Check out the complete details on the tournament page, where you can sign up and get to voting.)

There's a few contests that are going on before and during the tournament as well. One actually commences before voting opens tomorrow at 10 a.m.:

  • Comment on this post with your guess for the best song of 2010

  • They'll only take your first guess

  • Contest ends Friday, January 14th at 10 a.m. EST, at which point the tournament will begin.

  • The first 25 people who correctly guess the winning song will each win a This or That t-shirt, and they'll randomly choose a grand prize winner who will walk away with a pair of Beats by Dre Solo HD headphones

So get on there and get voting in the comments for some fun before the tournament begins! Other contests include:

Blog- Write about which song should win the tournament on your blog (including Tumblr or Posterous) for your chance to win a year’s subscription to Pandora One and a $150 Amazon gift certificate or one of 25 ToT t-shirts. Entrants should disclose to their readers that they are entering our contest and email a link to their post at [email protected] to qualify.

Vote- Vote on every match-up in every round and you could win a pair of Beats by Dre Studio Over-Ear headphones. They’ll select one winner randomly for the grand prize and 25 others will each receive a This or That t-shirt.

So? What are you waiting for? Sign up and Enter - and share your votes on Twitter using the hashtag #SongOfTheYear.

What's one thing that isn't fun about the People's Choice Awards? That your voice really isn't heard and you have to sit through three hours worth of awards show to see who the winners are. Mind you, sometimes you see a bunch of awesome performances during the ride, but being able to decide the outcome of something like the "2010 #SongOfTheYear" seems way more fun.

This or That launches the music lovers' tournament, "Let the Internet Decide: 2010 Song of the Year," beginning tomorrow (Friday, January 14, 2011), at 10 a.m. EST, and ending January 31... and the blog needs your help to get your favorite artist to the top.
