Billy Buchanan plays free Sunday Soul Food concert in Seminole Heights

You know, to go along with that Ella’s bloody mary, wearing a rib garnish.

How much soul can the Ella’s Soul Food Sunday brunch handle? Diners are about to find out when the Billy Buchanan Duo drops in for an afternoon set. The band’s namesake has dubbed himself the “Ambassador of Rock n’ Soul” and brings keyboardist Alex Richman with him to this free gig.

Buchanan is an expert at replicating soul greats like Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and James Brown, but he’s also got originals. Ella’s is already super busy on Sundays, and COVID-19 means the Seminole Heights staple is seating at a lower capacity, so it’s best to make a reservation if you and your bloody mary, with a rib garnish, want a seat.

And while Buchanan’s bio says, “Billy's only objective is to keep you on the dance floor,” remember that, for now, Tampa has a dancefloor ordinance which prohibits you from doing so.
