Chicago rapper Lucki—formerly Lucki Eck$—brings his “Almost There” tour to North Tampa strip-mall venue Pegasus Lounge on Friday night for a 16-and-over show.

The 25-year-old got noticed when his 2013 Alternative Trap mixtape dropped and has since worked with Chance the Rapper, FKA Twigs, Danny Brown, and Earl Sweatshirt.

Considered a conscious rapper, Lucki is not just about making beats and money, he’s a lo-fi storyteller rapping about his depression, drug abuse and other real-life flaws. He’s also not some caricature of himself, and even goes by the name he was born with (Lucki Camel Jr.). Far Rockaway’s Pasto Flocco—who just dropped the single “R2”—joins Lucki on the tour with 22Gz.

Lucki w/Pasto Flocco/22Gz. Friday, Aug 20, 7 p.m. $20-$80. Pegasus Lounge, Tampa.
