Nic Offer's esteemed dance punk project, !!! [Chk Chk Chk], is gearing up to drop a sixth studio album As If, due out October 16 via Warp Records, and have released a few more singles to hype it up a bit more.
The band's latest double play follow vintage disco odyssey, “Freedom! ’15” and R&B-hued house bumpin' cut, “Sick Ass Moon.” Have to admit, I dig the two freshies more than the last few. "Bam City" is a stealthy grooving number with fuzzy guitar, bumpin' basslines and sexy falsetto vocals that are balanced by a breathier, lower-toned delivery on the refrain. “Ooo” has a like-groove and tempos but a more melancholy lovelorn vibe and more disco direct appeal.
