Despite a bad case of toxic algae over the past year, Clearwater Beach has once again been named the country's best patch of sand.
TripAdvisor released their annual Travelers' Choice Awards and Clearwater Beach was ranked as the number one beach in the U.S. with Hawaii coming in at second. Quite a few other Florida beaches also made the cut, with Panama City Beach, St. Pete Beach, Pensacola Beach and Siesta Beach all finishing in the top ten. Out of the top 25 in the world, Clearwater Beach landed at number seven.
"The sugar fine white sand is a trademark of this fabulous beach. Perfect for a day in the sun. You might even spot a dolphin or two playing on the horizon," said TripAdvisor. The list is based on the quantity and quality of reviews on TripAdvisor. This is actually the third time the Pinellas County beach won this award. Clearwater also took top honors in 2016 and 2018.
