Tampa expat Mark Etherington, aka Mountain Holler, plays in Ybor City with his new seven-piece backing band The New Dawn with him for the first time. The Seattle resident’s August EP Casa Lago keeps with the magical, mystic folk his Tampa Bay fans have always loved (FWIW, Etherington calls what he does, “cavernous alt-folk” and “music from the city about the beauty of the mind and country,” which sounds about right, too).

Kristopher James—who’ll be backed by strings at a separate St. Petersburg show the night before—opens for Mountain Holler alongside Ghost Front.

Mountain Holler and the New Dawn/Ghost Front/Kristopher James. Saturday, Nov. 20, 8 p.m. $10. Crowbar, Ybor City. MNE Presents on Facebook
