Gil Mantera's Party Dream at Crowbar, 2007.

1812 N. 17th St., Ybor City, 813-241-8600,

The unofficial home base of Aestheticized Presents, Crowbar has become the place to see quality indie music on a quality PA system. The stage is roomy, elevated and conveniently located in the front and center of the room, directly across from the venue's two generous corner bars and facing the double doors leading to the courtyard area. It's easy to see and hear the music from pretty much any place you stand, even if you're outside. The courtyard has its own full bar and plenty of patio chairs and tables, offering lots of opportunities for taking a breather or a smoke break.

Memories Ohio electro-pop party band Gil Mantera's Party Dream is a repeat performer at the venue — the duo's September show was the third time they shed their outrageous clothes on the Crowbar stage, and they're expected to return sometime in January • Canadian DJ/turntablist Kid Koala played a Thursday night gig back in May that marked the end of his American tour. Midway through his hot funky set, he vocalized his happy amazement at both the generous size of the crowd and their unabashed enthusiasm. "If I'd known Tampa was gonna be like this, I woulda visited here a lot sooner. I guess I'll have to come back."
