“Satellite/in my eyes/like a diamond in the sky/How I wonder…” If you’ve made it this far into this blurb, then you’re probably hearing that lyric in Dave Matthews’ now world-renowned nasly warble. That thought is either killing you or making you feel all funny inside, too.
Whether you look at Matthews’ band as one of the worst or best things to happen to rock music, what you can’t deny is that DMB’s summer tours bring all the Birks (or in 2019 is it Birddogs shorts?) to the yard. Setlists have been predictably unpredictable on this run (“Joyride,” a song that hasn’t been played since 2013, and a mash-up of AC/DC’s “Back In Black” and the Bee Gees‘ “Stayin’ Alive” were both part of a recent show in New York) so expect a lot of “oohs” and “ahhs” as another installment of this long-running summer tradition rolls on.
Dave Matthews Band. Wed., July 24, 8 p.m. $45.50. MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre, Tampa. livenation.com.
