DEA & Saint enter Afropunk Battle of the Bands, Brooklyn

Vote for the alt hip hop duo now and help them make it to NYC in August.

St. Pete-based DEA & Saint have been an omnipresent force in Tampa Bay music since their start in 2014. (So much so that we tapped to do some writing for CL.) They have nearly 100 shows under their belt and deliver a live experience with a full band that’s nothing short of memorable, trading sharp-witted lyricism over a sonic wall of pummeling drums, guitar and bass.

Now, the alternative hip hop outfit is looking northward as they vie for a slot at the renowned Afropunk Fest happening August 27-28. 2016, at Commodore Barry Park in Brooklyn, NYC.

It’s all part of Afropunk’s Battle of the Bands contest. Six indie acts get the chance to give life-changing performances alongside greats like Ice Cube, TV On The Radio and Bad Brains at the 11th annual fest, and will be chosen by the total number of online votes cast by May 29.

"We are beyond excited to bring it to Afropunk this year for Battle of the Bands. This is definitely our vibe and it's time to step all the way out of the box,” said June. “It's not everyday people are given the opportunity to invest in someone else's dream. Now it's in the hands of the supporters -- but you better believe we are on the grind."

Give DEA & Saint a listen/look on Bandcamp or YouTube, and vote for them here.
