Indulge in the fruits (err, veggies) of Eckerd College students' labor.
On Saturday, May 14, Eckerd students host the Roots Harvest Festival, where they will harvest vegetables from their own organic community garden, and use them to create clean, pleasing to the palate dishes for a public potluck. On the menu: lots of rich leafy greens, peppers and squash, to name a few.
Members of the community are encouraged to bring a dish and utensils to the potluck, and produce will be available to take home. To add to the event's positive community vibe are live performances by David Hebde, Ngaire Young, Jun Bustamante (founder of Roots), Las Solitarias, Jonny Jenar, John Clark, Lady Gargoyles and American Swamp Ass.
Saturday, May 14, free; potluck 5-7 p.m.; live music 5-9 p.m.; the Eckerd College Garden, 4200 54th Ave. S., St. Petersburg.
