For Dominicans, rapper El Mayor Clasico is just about as famous as David Ortiz. The former Major League slugger might be recovering from a gnarly gunshot wound as of late, but he can be proud of his countryman, whose Santo Domingo-born style of rap and trap has led to millions of Instagram followers and even more viewers flocking to his YouTube page where a rowdy new single, “El RockanYor,” lives. He’s the mayor of a Carrollwood area nightclub on Friday night.

El Mayor Clasico. Fri., June 21, 9 p.m. $20-$30. Whiskey North, Tampa.
