Roll out the red carpet, Plant City is heading to Frisco, Texas.

Plant City’s annual Strawberry Festival gains national attention by being selected as one of five nominees in the Fair/Rodeo of the Year category from the Academy of Country Music Awards.

Since the 1920s the Winter Strawberry capital has grown to a $1 billion strawberry industry according to Fox 13. Besides the rides and attractions, the festival celebrates all things strawberry while having performances by various country artists like Reba McEntire, Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley and Blake Shelton.

"We are incredibly honored to have been nominated for this award," Florida Strawberry Festival President Paul Davis said.

This year's 11-day festival saw record breaking attendance with 606,116 visitors according to WTSP.

The 58th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards takes place Thursday, May 11, at 8 p.m. at the Ford Center in Frisco, Texas, and is hosted by Dolly Parton and Garth Brooks. Other nominees include the Auburn Rodeo in Alabama, Cheyenne Frontier Days in Wyoming, the Houston Livestock Show in Texas and the Iowa State Fair.

The 2024 Florida Strawberry Festival will take place Feb. 29 - March 10.
