This will be the fifth and biggest year for The Fest, a weekend-long punk-heavy shindig that takes place all over Gainesville in October and is quickly becoming one of the hottest underground music crawls in the country. But in case you just can't tear yourself away from Guavaween to drive two hours and see some of the best local, regional and national acts in rock, those helpful folks up at Skatepark of Tampa's Transitions Art Gallery have culled a sampler platter of Fest-confirmed artists for their own rilly big shew this Sunday.
The Fest 5 Warm-Up! 6 p.m. Sun., Sept. 10 @ Transitions Art Gallery, Skatepark of Tampa, Tampa; $7, all ages.
In addition to ace Bay area grit-punk from The Tim Version, New Bruises, and No Truth Lies, you'll be treated to raucous tuneage from Gainesville's The Cold Ones, Grabass Charlestons and Billy Reese Peters, as well as absolutely killer twang-rock from the brewsy dudes in Valdosta, Ga.'s Ninja Gun. That's, what, seven great bands for seven measly bucks? As the hip-hop kids say — or used to, I don't know, I can't pay attention to everything — don't sleep on this one.
