Locals have been carrying the concert calendar at St. Petersburg's renovated Floridian Social Club (FKA State Theatre), but one of the brightest touring bands in indie-rock is headed to the room next spring.

Tickets to see New Albany band Houndmouth play Floridian Social Club in St. Petersburg, Florida on April 26, 2022 are on sale now for $25.

The show is one of two Florida dates on Houndmouth's "Good For You" tour which also stops in Ponte Vedra on April 28 and marks the band's first show in the Bay area since 2016 sets at Clearwater Jazz Holiday and Gasparilla Music Festival.

It's a period of rebuilding for Houndmouth, and not just because of the pandemic. Houndmouth was recently dropped from its label, and singer Matt Myers told LEO Weekly that the band holed up in a house to make its new album after getting burnt out on the studio. And in a lot of ways the album is about escape.

"Escapism is in being on this planet, but without realizing that you’re here. But a lot of times, I’ll do that; I’ve found that I’ll play video games, and I’ll play poker and lose myself. But it’s always like, you gotta come back," he said.

"Video games are kind of nasty, because they take a toll on you. [Playing video games] doesn’t do anything for your mind. It’s not fulfilling. But that’s why I love music, because there’s something to show at the end of the day [and] share with people. It’s not just self-serving."
