Jakob Dylan will be in town on Friday with his band The Wallflowers (playing Hard Rock Cafe), so it’s a great day for Tampa Theatre to also open a 7-day run of screenings of a new Dylan-produced documentary, Echo In the Canyon.

Directed by former music journalist, record producer and label executive Andrew Slater, the film features cameos by musicians from the golden era of Los Angeles’ Laurel Canyon neighborhood (Brian Wilson, Michelle Phillips, the late Tom Petty) linking up with some famous admirers (Fiona Apple, Norah Jones, Dylan himself) as they explore songs that are as powerful today as they were in 1965. The last screening is on July 11, so you’ve got time to catch the show.

Echo In the Canyon. July 5-11. Tampa Theatre. 711 N. Franklin St., Tampa. tampatheatre.org.
