John McCuen
Tampa Bay resident John McEuen—formerly of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band—recently told Creative Loafing Tampa Bay that he moved to Franklin, Tennessee, explaining why he didn’t show at last year’s Ruth Eckerd Hall gig from his old friends.

The 77-year-old banjo virtuoso—who has been said to be a friend and teacher of Steve Martin’s—is coming back down for a long weekend, though, and the closest he’ll be to Tampa Bay is at McCurdy’s Comedy Theatre in Sarasota, where the 77-year-old and his Circle Band will tell tales of his fabled career, as well as perform hits and mega rarities inside and outside of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band.

Tickets to see John McCuen's Circle Band at McCurdy's Comedy Theatre in Sarasota on Monday, Feb. 6 are still on sale for $37.
