Can’t say we’re surprised.

Smaller indie music clubs that cultivate megastars on their way to arena domination are definitely in big trouble, but arena shows are all getting wiped out by coronavirus, too.

Last week saw postponement and cancellation of shows by Alanis Morissette and The Black Keys, respectively, and now Maroon 5 is taking a breather.

In a Twitter post, Adam Levin’s band announced the rescheduling of a 2020 tour that was supposed to hit Amalie Arena in Tampa on September 17. Opening that show—which does not have a new date yet—was Meghan Trainor.

Another letdown, especially for my puka shell-loving country fans out there, is the news that Kenny Chesney’s May 9 date at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium is now off the table for 2020.

“With so many tours needing to move, and wanting to make sure we are in the best possible circumstances for No Shoes Nation, I think – and I hate this – it’s best to move everything into 2021,” Chesney (pictured) wrote online. “Refund options will be available at the time a rescheduled show date is announced.”
